About Us

Brodhead Area EMS officially began operation on December 16th, 1989.  Since that time we have made many major upgrades with our service, from the ambulances we have owned, the buildings we have occupied, the top-of-the-line equipment we use and the training we have all received.  Since 2003 we have seen a steady increase of emergency calls, with 2008 having a total of 402 calls.

The overall business of the organization is handled by an elected Board of Directors, which is made up of five crew members and four people from the community.

Currently we have 24 EMTs and 4 drivers who all are under the volunteer status.  The EMTs are all Wisconsin EMT-Basic certified and AHA Health Care CPR certified.  Along with that our EMTs are able to perform advanced skills such as aspirin administration, epinephrine administration, glucagon administration, albuterol/atrovent administration, Continuous Positive Air Pressure (CPAP), Combitube, Small Adult Combitube, and 12-Lead Monitor.  Our EMTs are certified in the American Heart Association Health Care CPR but perform the CardioCerebral Resuscitaion (CCR), being the first service in Green County to start performing it.  We are able to perform those skills under the direction of Mercy Health System Medical Control in Janesville, WI.  The EMTs go through a refresher course for every two year period, meeting every other month on the third Monday of that month, with the classes lasting approximately 3 hours.  The months that do not have a refresher course scheduled, have in-house training provided by our Training Officer.  The EMTs and drivers are all certified in EVOC, with renewal every two years.

The Brodhead Area EMS is non-profit emergency medical service providing medical care for citizens in the Brodhead area. Our organization receives no tax dollars and relies solely on revenue from runs and, most importantly, donations. We are very appreciative of any and all donations, memorials, etc. that are given and pledge that all will be put to the best use possible. Donating to the Brodhead Area EMS means donating to make this a safer place for all of us to live.
